MyJennyBook - My Big Move and The First Day at School
Back in February 2012 I applied to a company called MyJennyBook as they were hiring artists for the books they planned to release. In March of that year the MyJennyBook CEO Jennifer Betit-Yen hired me and I began work on My Big Move and the First Day at a New School. I finished the project in April and my supervisors were very pleased with it. This story deals with the anxiety of moving to a new home and having to attend a new school. Notice you don’t actually see the protagonist because this is a self-insertion story where the child reading it is the protagonist. Moving to a new home can be stressful, as this crying cloud would indicate.
The protagonist boarded a huge plane to move to a new city.
At first the protagonist hated the new house since it was too small, plus it didn’t have a tree in the front yard with a swing on it like the old house. For this book I went with an impressionist style.
In the end the protagonist adapts to the new home and school, drawing a picture of the teacher and classmates.
